The Wool Bar - a little haven for knitters

about us 1My name is Caroline and on the 13th of June 2009 I opened The Wool Bar, it was a huge life change after 23 years with British Airways. My hope was and still is to create a friendly, community spirited shop. A place for inspiration and where people can meet and share their ideas and creativity. Somewhere to relax, unwind and leave the hustle and bustle of busy lives outside the door!

In 2012, I moved into a slightly bigger shop and introduced annual projects ('knit-a-longs'), such as the 'Very British Afghan'. A wonderful heirloom blanket made over 12 months using pure British yarn. The theme was British seasons and celebrations.
In 2014 I increased my stock with some haberdashery and fabric suppled by JR Crafts (owned by Julia Rochford) and in January 2015; Julia and I decided to join ranks and become business partners, we now jointly own The Wool Bar Co. A slightly larger shop and another location in Worthing!
Julia has a history of working with fine fabrics and textiles, she also has a keen eye for antique and vintage finds, so don't be surprised if you find a 1950's Singer Sewing Machine in store or a refurbished piece of furniture (all for sale too!).
You will always find a warm welcome in store, so do come and browse, squish the yarns, explore the fabrics and haberdashery, gifts and vintage finds too; and if you need help with a knit, crochet or sewing stitch, we are here to offer some friendly advice.
